Here’s McCain’s response to Giuliani’s “torture” presidency…
Read this. Of course, McCain did vote for this guy Mukasey to be the new attorney general, and he’s all but said he won’t go after torture. Still, he’s got the right to smack around Giuliani a bit. Maybe he could get Donna Hanover to help him…
I guess being Mayor of New York is more torture than most people think…
Ok. I’m a bit dumbfounded by the latest bit of campaign speak from Rudy Giuliani, when asked whether he understood torture better than Sen. John McCain, who was tortured for five years in a Hanoi prison.
Wha? Your “intensive question[ing]” makes you more of an expert on what is and isn’t torture, Rudy? I fail to see the logic there. McCain has FORGOTTEN more torture than you’ve ever imagined! And I’m sure that in your role as Mayor, you personally poured water up the nostrils of John Gotti and his clan to get RICO indictments. I’m sure of it. As sure as I am that the Baltimore Ravens’ offense is a point scoring machine (See what I did there?).
Rudy had five draft deferrments during Vietnam–another thing to have in common with Vice President Vader. It’s well documented that he was a very successful U.S. Attorney, but I’m guessing that Ivan Boesky never had to stand in an uncomfortable position to be forced to talk.
I may be blowing a stupid comment by Giuliani out of proportion, but have a modicum of respect for the expertise–if you can call it that–Sen. McCain has when it comes to deciding what constitutes torture. The man earned it.
